The first days in university were not only about adjusting to a new environment but also about building meaningful relationships with peers. Meeting my roommates for the first time was an important step. We exchanged introductions, shared our backgrounds and discussed expectations for hostel life. These initial interactions helped break the ice and created a sense of comfort, as everyone was in the same position of adjusting to a new routine. Over time, we started bonding over shared experiences, from managing daily tasks to discussing academic concerns, which gradually developed into supportive friendships.

One of the highlights of settling into campus life was experiencing my first meal in the university mess. Dining together became a social activity, where casual conversations turned into laughter and mutual understanding. I learned the importance of mess etiquette, such as following timing schedules and maintaining cleanliness, which contributed to a sense of discipline and respect for communal spaces. These shared experiences also strengthened our camaraderie, as we began helping each other navigate both hostel rules and university expectations.

By the end of the first week, I realized that these small moments of interaction formed the foundation of long-term friendships. The support from roommates and peers not only made adjustment easier but also created a sense of belonging within the university community. This early stage of relationship-building taught me the value of cooperation, empathy and teamwork, setting a positive tone for the rest of my university journey.
